the Weihen-hefe was so good the first time (and I really wanna use more of that Weihenstephaner yeast!), that it is going to be the LBBP's first ever re-brew! the recipe is going to be EXACTLY the same, so I will not be creating a new page for it. any updates will be found right here in the blogspot. this is going to go side-by-side with Hoppy Kitty IPA in the kegerator (once that gets built)

oh man does the fermentation smell great on this IPA! sitting at a very nice 67-ish degrees, there is a lovely thick layer of krausen sitting atop the wort. gooooo Pacman!
got the starter of Pacman yeast crankin' away this morning (350mL), and will step it up with another 2-300mL tomorrow. the yeasty beasties should be ready to rock and roll come brew day Saturday night!
The past 2 days has brought about the sampling of both 8 of 9 Lives Ale, and Cool Cat Cream Ale...
check out their pages for pour pics and tasting notes! well if you compare dates...I should be drinking 8 of 9 Lives and Cool Cat by now, BUT they have yet to fully carbonate. lazy yeast? cooler ambient temperatures? who knows? probably a combination of the two plus a dash of crappy luck to top it all off. Really wish I was kegging after dealing with this. Hoppy Kitty is still on deck, but I didn't want 3 full cases of backlogged brew, so I am holding off for at least a few more days...
~crossing fingers~ Aside from the incredible facilty that is Stone Brewing, the lovely wife and I hit up 4 other breweries, and would like to say hello and thank you for a great time to our new friends at: Green Flash, Port Brewing, the Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, and San Marcos Brewing Co. everyone had their own special offerings, and the people that work in these places are all great. I can easily recommend each and every one of these
it took a few minutes to find it (not a single sign for the brewery...go figure!), but it was SO worth it. very cool and knowledgeable people, a fun tour, and samples of fresh Stone Pale ale, IPA, smoked porter, arrogant bastard, cali belgian IPA, and self-righteous. wow! if you are ever in the Escondito, CA area...check 'em out!
can you believe the nerve of this guy? I turn my back for 15 seconds and he hops on top of 2 cases of swing tops (not even cheap-o recycled ones) of fresh beer!
got to try out the Nightfall Ale last evening. It really was an interesting beer...check out my tasting notes HERE
Tonight I am planning on testing out the 1st Nightfall Ale bottle. it has been 2 months to the day, so I am very curious to see where this beer stands at the moment. Also, the bottle and brew day went off without a hitch. 8 of 9 Lives (Rouge Dead Guy inspired) looked really good, and Cool Cat cream ale appears to be on the right track. the smell of fermentation is quite nice I must say. and while there was a bit of a longer lag than I anticipated, it has since taken off like a rocket...
