well, tomorrow morning I am placing my next order for 2 beers' worth of supplies, a 1000mL flask, and 2 pouches of liquid yeast (from Wyeast labs). the plan is to "ranch" each of the yeast packs into 3-4 mason jars after running the little guys through a starter. this way I can get multiple uses from each pack of yeast (going to try to stretch it out over the entire year...not bad for less than $25 if you add in the cost of the flask too). the process seems easy enough, so we shall see.
and as far as the 2 upcoming recipes...I am leaning towards my stout and Aventinus-inspired weizenbock. but my Hoppy Kitty IPA just wants to be brewed, and I still have not nailed a real hefeweizen yet, oh decisions decisions!
